Il Colosseo, o Anfiteatro Flavio, fu fatto costruire dall'Imperatore Vespasiano e inaugurato nell'80 d.C.. Nell' antichità ospitava battaglie navali, lotte di gladiatori e cacce di animali feroci; poteva contenere fino a 87.000 spettatori.
